A young family starting from scratch in a small, overgrown space dominated by a large bay tree and bamboo. After the overgrown areas were made manageable, I planted a durable and drought-tolerant clover lawn, alongside greengage, crabapple, and espalier pear trees. Over time, I planted perennials to suit the soil type and aspect, which bringing seasonal interest and attracting pollinators. The most recent addition was a mediterranean style bed by the kitchen, incorporating wild oregano, achillea, thyme, lavender and salvia.
