A young family starting from scratch in a small, overgrown space dominated by a large bay tree and bamboo. After the overgrown areas were made manageable, we planted a durable and drought-tolerant clover lawn, alongside greengage, crabapple, and espalier pear trees. Over time, we planted perennials to suit the soil type and aspect, which bringing seasonal interest and attracting pollinators. The most recent addition was a mediterranean style bed by the kitchen, incorporating wild oregano, achillea, thyme, lavender and salvia.
